ABOUT
The Building Consent Guy was founded in January 2020 by Craig Harrison. The idea to create this business came to me after four years working in the building sector for various councils in New Zealand. I would listen to people complaining about different aspects of the building industry and would help them fix up their mistakes with the dawning realization that there needed to be a business providing a complete building management system to help kiwi's with their building projects. People should be able to get their projects through council’s requirements without a whole lot of drama, delays and extra costs and that is where I can aid you and help you enjoy the process.
I started in the building game 30 years ago and have been successful and enjoyed all aspects of this amazing industry. From the humble beginnings as a carpentry apprentice in Wellington to finding myself in the thick of it project managing multi-million-pound construction projects in London. Now back and living in the Tasman region with my family, I able to give you my honest, straight up and to the point building opinion and experience.
I believe drawings should not only demonstrate compliance with the Building Code but also should be a good set of clear instructions to give to the contractors to plan, quote & build from. Precise information leads to successful outcomes .
